2018 America's 9/11 Ride

This year marks the return of the America's 9/11 Ride. A memorial ride which visits all three of the memorial sites dedicated to the tragic events as a result of the terrorist actions against the United States on September 11, 2001. This is the 17th run of the ride. For the 15th anniversary in 2016, it was announced that would the "Final Ride" due to logistic issues with running the ride. With the size of the ride for the 10th and 15th anniversaries, the logistics of moving a large group of motorcycles (~2000) through so many towns was difficult and cause rather large traffic delays as it would take 45 mins or more for the procession to pass.
The was only an informal gathering in 2017.
For 2018, the ride is limited to 600 bikes.
This is a fully police escorted ride that begins in Somerset, Pa on Friday, 17 Aug, and drives by the Flight 93 Memorial. From there, the procession heads to the Pentagon where the participants overnight at the Crystal City Double Tree hotel. Early the next morning the ride departs the Pentagon North Parking lot for NYC. Two gas stops then food and award ceremonies in Linden, NJ are followed by a transit through the Holland Tunnel to the Sheraton at Times Square. Sunday morning there is a ride across Manhattan for a brief ceremony at Ground Zero.
